Advent is a time of waiting, waiting and preparing for the celebration of the Nativity, of Jesus’ birth. But sometimes, Advent can be such a whirlwind of activity that it's a challenge to find time to prepare spiritually for this great feast. Could this year be different for you?
COVID-19 has increased our reliance on the Internet and also made us more aware of what a treasure trove of resources it can be. The same is true when it comes to Advent.
Further down the page is a selection of resources for you to choose from, to use yourself or with your family.
Do join in with one or more of our Parish events during Advent.
Parish Events in Advent
This group, led by Fr Alistair, will meet via Zoom at 7:30pm on Wednesdays, 2 December to 23 December inclusive.
The course will be based on some contemporary themes of recent months. Don't worry if you can't make every one of the four sessions.
Those who have customarily followed the Advent and Lent courses at home individually, may care to request a printed copy of the sessions.
Advent Wreath Workshop
This will be similar to workshops that have been held in the parish in the past - fun, sociable and you will end up with your own Advent Wreath. The workshop will be on 28 November at 10:30 am on Zoom and basic materials can be delivered to you in advance.
This workshop complements the blog articles about Advent Wreaths.
Scroll down for photos of some of the wreaths made.
Coffee and Mince pie evening
Join with others to chat and put the world to rights (or at least make a start on it.) This will be on Zoom on Monday 14 December, between 7:30 pm and 9 pm. Drop in for as long or as short a period as you wish.
Send an email and a link to the session will be sent to you.
The coffee and mince pies (or whatever you prefer) are for you to provide!
